Department of World Missions Cooperation correspondence files (1956-1967) contain correspondence, reports, constitutions, telegrams, directories, and publications regarding its coordination of Lutheran mission activities in the Tanganyika Territory (East Africa) (became Tanzania in 1964) and its cooperation with the Lutheran World Federation's Department of World Mission (LWF-DWM) in LWF mission work and in scholarship exchanges. Topics of discussion concern assistance to Tanganyika missions, hospitals, and schools; coordination and administration of activities with Tanganyika Lutheran church bodies; and. Financial and personnel issues. Discussion also regards missionary candidate placement; participation in Lutheran Foreign Missions Conferences; cooperative mission efforts with the LWF-DWM; and student exchange program activities. Correspondents include NLC and LWF-DWM officials, NLC partipating church body officials and mission board leaders, foreign mission leaders, Lutheran World Action officials, missionaries, and church organizations.
